Cornetto Repertoire - from Catalog to ZinkNET

When I first became of student of Edward Tarr at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis in 1975, he entrusted to me his card catalog of cornetto repertoire, which must have comprised a hundred or so cards with bibliographical information about prints and manuscripts of music for cornetto. Several years later, together with my student Michael Collver, we embarked on a plan to create a digital catalog using the technology available to us in those early days. We entered all of the information into WordPerfect for MS-DOS, and eventually created the catalog published by the Indiana University Press in 1996. This catalog served many of us well for the following three decades or so, but it has shown the need for a more modern approach: digital, online, searchable, linked to RISM and incorporating other works such as the wonderful catalog of trombone repertoire by Howard Weiner, Charlotte Leonard and Linda Pearse published by Brepols in 2023. This dream has come true through the efforts of my former student Lambert Colson and his two collaborators Tim Meulenbeld and Sushaant Jaccard at the Haute École de musique de Genève (REM). This will continue to be a work in evolution, though it is already a marvel of usefulness. You can access the database at the link below.
